Udaipur: March 11th-13th
In the fastest turn around ever, Katherine and I arrived in Jaipur from Ranthambhore on Sunday the 9th and left Jaipur for Udaipur Tuesday morning!
We (Katherine and I) took a week off from volunteering so that I could make the long journey to my Balashram (Orphanage) in Rajkot Gujarat.
We stayed two nights in Udaipur— the lake city— and toured around.
India or a lobster boat in Maine?
My favorite restaurant in Udaipur is “The Little Prince Cafe”, which reminds me so much of Emily Swan for some reason.
Also all over Udaipur their are signs for screening of “Octopussy” (The James Bond movie). I later learned that the Monsoon Palace in Udaipur was used for a scene in “Octopussy”.
Rajkot: March 13th-15th
We arrived in Rajkot in the afternoon on the 13th and found my Balashram shortly after arriving.
We had lunch and made friends with some of the girls in the Balashram, who gave us henna, painted our nails, and did our hair. We spent the night in the Balashram.
It was incredible.
That night I met Ashasha, the lady who flew with me from India to the great state of Maine!
On the 14th we toured around Rajkot and spent time in Ghandiji’s ashram from when he was 6.
Later we also went to Ghandiji’s high school.
Around 6ish Ashasha came back and took Katherine and I out to see more of Rajkot, have dinner, and visit her home! We meet her family which was an unreal experience.
we spent a second night at the Balashram and left early in the morning on the 15th.
We arrived back in Udaipur in the afternoon on the 15th and left for Jaipur on the morning of the 16th.
